18 October 2016
Camden Council began the 12 month trial in December last year and it has been hugely successful.
By doubling the space for cyclists in Tavistock Place and Torrington Place this has encouraged a 30% average increase in cyclists at peak times, compared to 2015.
The result? Air quality has improved in the area, with pollution levels dropping by up to 21%.
Needless to say Camden Green Party wholeheartedly supports Camden Cyclists in pushing for the permanent introduction of this cycle scheme, which could have such a positive impact on our local environment for years to come.
Visit the Camden Cyclists website here for more information and to have your say in this crucial trial before 21st October.
It takes just one minute.
In recent weeks there has been a lot of media coverage on this Tavistock Place cycle scheme, as well as on the proposed CS11 cycle superhighway.
We don't want positive changes to our local environment hijacked by a vocal pro-car lobby, so please do respond if you can.
Further benefits of the Tavistock Place cycle scheme include wider pavements for pedestrians, improved cycle safety at signal junctions, more cycle parking facilities, and the opportunity to plant new trees.
If you have time please do take a moment to support this worthwhile scheme:
